SEGAL Manager Donates L$100K to Lofa

As part of his contribution to ensure a successful campaign in the ongoing National County Sports Meet, the General Manager of the Security Expert Guard Agency of Liberia (SEGAL), Momo Cyrus, has donated L$100,000 to his native Lofa County.

Mr. Cyrus said every well-meaning Lofian should rally around the team to ensure it gets the necessary support. “The team needs all of our support and we should do all we can to motivate them,” he said.

AG Team Assures Support to Donamisport Project in West Point

West Point Township Commissioner Samson Nyan told a visiting team of members of the Assembly of God from the United States that the small community awaits support to improve the lives of the people.

The team was led by Doc Lawson, Liberian-American ex international soccer player, who is the head of the popular DonamiSports that organizes sports for youths and kids every year.

Commissioner Nyan told a team of nine persons, including three women, that he was happy to welcome them to the community.

Fans’ Safety Important in County Meet Finals

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has warned against “duplication of tickets” and expressed confidence in the Liberia National Police to handle the situation and ensure that match officials, players and fans are safe.

The concern over congestion at the County Meet finals has been raised because the finals take place at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium with the capacity of about 8,000 fans.

National County Meet Reaches Phase Two

The draw for Phase Two of the National County Sports Meet was yesterday held in Monrovia with eight teams drawn in two groups.

Defending soccer champions Grand Bass County will be going against 2015 3rd place winner Lofa County in Group B in their first match.

Lofa County during the group stage topped Group I ahead of Margibi and Bong counties with four points after defeating Bong and securing a point against Margibi County, while Grand Bass finished as runners-up in Group- IV with two points behind group leaders Grand Cape Mount.

More Frustration for Barrolle

Frustration continued in the camp of Mighty Barrolle as they lost their third consecutive match in the Cellcom National League.

The Rollers, having lost their first two matches, yesterday failed to secure a point by losing 1-0 to the Church Boys of Jubilee at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

Jubilees recovered from their 4-0 defeat to BYC in week-2 and got an early lead through striker Jimmy Gray in the 11th minute that sealed the team’s second three points.

Barrolle made their first attempt when midfielder Moses Cooper missed a header from close range.
