In his taxonomy of conflict types, Bernard Mayer lists six “faces”, or appearances of conflict to include low impact conflicts, latent conflicts, transient conflicts, representational conflicts. As our nation’s leaders continue to aspire for sustainable peace in Liberia, Messengers of Peace (MOP)-Liberia, from its embryonic stage in 2008 has remained committed to peace in Liberia.

There is no bigger sign of this commitment than our foundation values of advocacy for Peace Education and non-violence through the concept of volunteerism. We remain the bearer of peace messages and take the lead role for Peace Advocacy involving youth in Liberia.

Gwendolyn Myers, Executive Director, Messengers of Peace-Liberia (MOP)

Messengers of Peace

The history of the 20th Century has shown that utopian schemes, usually undertaken in the name of collectivities, lead inevitably to military boots crushing the human face. Because all persons are equally free and emphatically are not merely the means to another’s end, each individual bears the responsibility for the choices he or she freely makes.
