As Steve Cashin Calls for Insurance Sector Reform

International Bank (Liberia) Limited (IB) has donated US$50,000 to the John F. Kennedy (J.F.K) Memorial Hospital.

The US$50,000 check was jointly presented symbolically to the hospital by Cllr. Estrada Bernard, legal counsel of IB and Mr. Patrick Anumel, director and chief executive officer of IB at the bank's Customers' Appreciation Dinner held at a local hotel in Monrovia on Friday, July 23, 2010.

Presenting the check, Cllr. Bernard stressed the important role JFK Memorial Hospital continues to play amidst the financial and capacity challenges it is faced with.
Mr. Bernard recalled how JFK had stood the test of time and said the money was part of IB's social responsibility program.

JFK Hospital is one of the leading clients of IB, but Cllr. Bernard pointed out that the bank's support to the hospital was intended to save more precious lives.

The hospital's comptroller, George Ozinga Flahnma, received the check on behalf of the hospital administration and assured that the money would be used for the intended purpose.

Mr. Flahnma thanked IB management for the donation to the hospital.

Meanwhile, IB director Stephen Cashin has called for reform of the country's insurance sector to respond to the growth trajectory of the economy.

According to Mr. Cashin, a weak insurance sector, as it is currently in the country, does not guarantee huge private investments.
