In Connection with PSU Officer's Death
Four persons, all residents of Capitol Bye-Pass in Monrovia, have been arraigned in court after a thorough police investigation into the burning of Inspector Amos Tutu of Police Support Unit (PSU) who, on February 27, 2010, was burnt alive after gasoline had been spilled on him.
The suspects are Kwame Akakpo, Aaron Lackay, Nicholas Wleh and Michell Davis.
Inspector Tutu was allegedly beaten and burnt by an angry crowd after he had shot dead one Preston Davies, also believed to be a former police officer, and a resident of the Bye-Pass after a short argument between the two.
According to police charge sheet, the scuffle between the two was over alleged rent fees received by Preston Davies for an apartment.
The charge sheet explained that police investigations had established that Inspector Tutu on the night of his demise had gone to Preston Davies to ask for some amount of money that had allegedly been paid to him (Preston Davies) in July 2009 as rental fee for an apartment, but could not make available the apartment nor refund the money allegedly paid.
That, according to the police investigations, resulted in an argument between the two which degenerated into a fist fight.
