Don't Demonstrate Against GAC, Morlu

News Section:

Mr. Editor:

My attention is drawn to the recent demonstration by some women of Liberia at the offices of the European Union (EU) in Mamba Point, calling for the removal of Liberia’s Auditor General, John Sembe Morlu, without any knowledge of Morlu’s contributions towards the building of a vibrant society. I guess the women were ill-informed.

The action of these women is completely wrong and not in the interest of the common people of Liberia. Why will someone caught in corrupt practices be allowed to go free? Can’t our mothers see that millions go hungry while a few steal millions of dollars? I will like to send a clarion call to our mothers to see John Morlu and the General Auditing Commission (GAC) not as what they think they are. The GAC has performed exceptionally well in paving the way for the fair use of public and private funds for societal good. Instead of being used by corrupt individuals to protect themselves from disgrace, the women should be asking the EU and the entire world to give support to the GAC and the Auditor General.

Remember that nobody has the right to steal government money. So next time our mothers carry placards it must be in the interest of the Liberian people and not corrupt people.

Bravo GAC! Fear no foe!!
