IT Specialist off to Thailand for Peace-building

Published:  18 June, 2008
Israel S. Newberry

MONROVIA, Israel S. Newberry is not just an IT specialist. Among other things, he is also extremely learned in the theological arts. And for the next three months he will devote himself to a rigorous round of training at the Rotary Center for Peace and Conflict Studies program at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. The program is intended for individuals who have established a career and already have experience in international relations or peace and conflict resolution. But more interestingly, it calls on professionals in just about any field to be a sort of serum for injecting and promoting ideas and strategies for peace and conflict resolution in their respective areas of work. The program accepts professionals from the fields of journalism to the civil service and the NGO and private sectors as well as the military.
