JAMAICALVIN Versus RASTAFARIAN
Published: 06 June, 2008
We take cognizance against Rastafarianism being a politically oriented religion rooted in Jamaica, which has rapidly spread throughout the Caribbean nations and amongst Black communities of Britain and African-American communities of the United States. It began in the Depression, during which period an approximate figure of some twenty (20,000) thousand Jamaicans returned to their island from contract work in countries such as Cuba and Panama, in search of employment and a new sense of identity.
We also take recognition of the fact that sometime between 1922 and 1926, a Jamaican industrialist and preacher under the name of 'Marcus Garvey' whom the Rastafarians believe kindled the society movement with a prophesy:
“Look to Africa when a Black king shall be crowned, for deliverance is near.' Salvation, he preached, would be achieved only with the Black man's repatriation to his African homeland: according to Garvey, the climatic decade would be the 1960s.
However, with the coronation and accession of the late Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, in 1930, the Rastas were of all conviction and firm belief that the first part of Garvey's prophesy was fulfilled; behold, in order to prudently understand the whole process, it was analysed and discovered in reference to significant data that Emperor Selassie, the First, was a fake imposition on the Imperial Throne of Abassania. In fact, Marcus Garvey's prophesy was meant for a “Black king; “ in which intrinsic evidence shows that Ras Tafari (Haile Selassie) was a mixed-breed or half-caste more connected to an Arabic ancestry lineage. He, therefore, could not befit the description of a Black king in conformity with Mr. Garvey's prophesy, as idem supra. The time factor and circumstances, etc., contributing to the result, show conflicting because Mr. Garvey might not had meant any 'Ras Tafari,' in the first place, and on second thought it would seem that the Almighty God has always wanted to clarify this ambiguity by a special call upon an “Elect,” to put into the right prospective and practice the theory of Garvey's prediction.
Now, if according to Mr. Garvey's climactic decade it was in the 1960s, then obviously it is contradictory to Haile Selassie's birth and accession dates, the latter being in 1930. For even his attitude, as also being a chief executive officer of the Ethiopian government, for forty years (up to his death) demonstrated a sign of dictatorship, especially so when he could hardly read or write his indigenous and national language of Amharic, with an exception to English which is universal. Even the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, which most of the Christians are Amharas, the nation's ruling minority consider themselves “White,” and have been known to look on Europeans as an inferior “pink” race. Indeed, this belief as of course in contravention to Marcus Garvey's prophesy of a “Black king.” Moreover, as much as it would apply that Garvey's prophesy was reference and reflective to “Ethiopia,” as many of the Rastas' symbols and memorabilia depict Ethiopia; nevertheless, the choice of a Black king could have derived from another country in 'Black Africa' where royal blood is traced back into the Abassanian monarchy. While most of the world would be acquainted with the late Emperor Haile Sellassie, 1st; yet, in reversed and thorough investigation, we should learn that Lej Iyasu was the 'proper heir' for the Throne in Addis Ababa, since 1913, when his grandfather Emperor Menilek, 2nd had chosen him, in preference amongst others which included his own daughter Empress Zawditu or Ras Tafira (Haile Sellassie) to succeed him. However, we should know that the chosen successor, Lej Iyasu (a handsome young prince of religious toleration) was overthrown by his aunty Zawditu in 1916, because of strict Orthodox beliefs which she had advised Iyasu to adhere to.
In view of the foregoing opinions, God has appeared to have shifted the aspect of a “Black king” to comport exactly in congruent to Marcus Garvey's prophesy, for the fact is that God's approbation always includes other congruous monarchs that have monarchical connection back into Abassania. This Celestial plan was made and brought into effect, predicated on the dethrone of Lej Iyasu in 1916 and his assassination or disappearance in 1930, when subsequently Haile Salassie imposed and deliberately took the Imperial Crown in a quasi coronation. It is believed to have been a threat and offence to the Angelic Host that witnessed the whole fabricational ceremony from Heaven, as we can see in essence to Haile Sellassie's, administration of government, millions of people died in Eritrea because of his aggression and reluctance to relinguish their rights to independency. Apparently, The Almighty God disliked Haile Sellassie because he was an impostor and not a properly selected monarch in Ethiopia. Sellassie's massacred over a million Eritreans (who had his common resemblance) and it was done in bad faith rather than under any Divine Rights of the King. To demonstrate His disfavour, God even turned His back on the Ethiopia at one time under Haile Sallessie so-called reign, and God looked elsewhere to choose another Elect, for we know the definition of 'Iyasu' is 'Joshua,' which means, 'Jesu or Jesus.' Therefore, when Lej Iyasu tried to pave the way for religious toleration in Abassania, it was part of his Celestial plan or Divine Right had he been coronated in lieu of Salessie. Indeed, today, there is religious toleration and racial diversity in many industrialized nations where the act was long ago prohibited. However, because of Sellassie's attitude over power and influence [with ostentatious Imperial displays and flamboyant decorations], he became a threat to peace and security, as it was an act of disobedience, and God decided to intervene, for the interpretation of a “handsome Black king” was being misconstrued by this Arab figure appearing almost everywhere in military uniform in behalf a truth king. For the beautification of a typical Abassanian king was resembled to that race of Lej Iyasu and his ancestor Tewodros, 2nd.
In fact, there is no affirmative proof that Haile Sellassie accepted Rastafarianism as any of his religious beliefs, and neither did he acknowledge the position bestowed on him as their Messiah and God Incarnate. He might had given the Rastafarian movement permission to be re-established on a 500 hectare around Shashemene, about 220 kilometres south of Addis Ababa, Ethipoia; yet, regardless of his generosity, that act was supportive toward his removal from power. If you may recall Sellessie, as Ras Tafari and his collaborator Empress Zawditu, refused to accept any form of religious toleration under the leadership of Lej Iyasu between 1913 to 1916.
Jamaica, Jamaica! Remember “Jah Made Calvin,” the Predestinarian Baptist [who was previously christened into his mother's Church as a Methodist] to become specially elected to be able to interpret for you the prophesy of Marcus Garvey's 'Black king.' From Calvin Peabody's clairvoyance of the Double Predestination of God [after seeing a vision of the 'Golden Stairway' projecting from Heaven unto Earth (a true replica of Saint Jacob's Ladder)], he has constantly activated the Throne by prayers and strong faith in Jesus Christ, so that he and his beloved brethren and people may one day be able to walk up that Golden Stairway without hindrance from the Angelic Host.
Calvin Peabody is five feet eleven inches (5 ft. 11 inch.) in height. He was born on October 6, 1959 [around the climatic decade of Garvey's prediction], under the conjugality of honourable Albert D. Peabody (1905-1972) and Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Wright-Peabody (1915-1959), at the Maternity Center, Bassa Community, Capitol By-pass, Monrovia, Liberia. His parents were Methodists and at an early age Calvin was christened in the First United Methodist Church of Marshall City, in the presence of his father, under the officiation of Pastor Samuel R. E. Dixon; in 1976, in affirmation of his faith in Jesus, Calvin chose to become baptised by immersion at the First Baptist Church in Oldest Congo Town, Monrovia. The pastor who performed the ceremony was Reverend Lawrence P. Hardy, of the Southern Baptist Board, from Savannah, Georgia, in the States. Calvin has become a Canadian Citizen; he presently resides at 138-107 Arlington Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 5S7; Tel: (613) 422-3714.
The Almighty God has chosen Calvin Peabody, a biological member of the Bassa tribe; a biological African prince on line of succession to the throne of King Zangbah Noyu Komoyah [if kingship is reverted in Liberia]; a staunch member of the George Peabody, Esq. Clan, unto which he became as “Cousin” to Jesus Christ. Calvin Peabody's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Kaziah Greene-Wright, was previously hailed from the West Indies [prob. Barbados], from whence she and members of her family migrated into Liberia, West Africa. [Another source relayed that 'Kaziah Greene' might had come from Trinidad]. However, her daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Peabody was good friends of Mrs. Antionette Padmore-Tubman, wife of the late President William V. S. Tubman; and former President Edwin Barclay, amongst others, who were connected to Barbados.
If Marcus Garvey's prophesy is to be fulfilled on the issue of Jamaicans' repatriation into Africa, then it is Calvin Peabody whom God has chosen to establish facts on such terms. Apparently, Calvin Peabody is the only suitable choice to become king of Doh Proper (present-day District No. 1, Grand Bassa County), where vast of his territorial inheritance is situated in Liberia. On the other hand, being an heir to his late father's Testate Estate (the A. D. Peabody Estate), which he will eventually [in several years] become a large landowner in Marshall (present-day Margibi County), Liberia. His late sister, Mrs. Rachel Peabody- Dunbar (1942-2004), often anointed his head, when she helped to take care of him from infant (doing laundry, teaching arithmetic, baking corn bread, at the Peabody's Residence, etc.), and as he grew up attending the Methodist Elementary School, in Monrovia, some of his schoolmates did notice the heavy oil in his hair and face from time to time. Before her death, Mrs. Rachel Peabody- Dunbar (a.k.a. Sister Lady Pea) visited Ottawa, Canada on several occasions to visit her brother Calvin. At first she brought a special telephone [a Southeastern Bell brand], and installed it inside his bedroom [at 1-228 Cobourg Street], to be able to leave him important voice messages. Indeed, she left a message once, concisely stating that if every thing went well concerning her share of the Peabody property in Liberia, she wanted half to go to him as well. A Liberian-Canadian, who hails from District No. 1, under the name of Charles Wallace, of Toronto, Esq., who is married to a Jamaican-Canadian lady, heard the replay of the recorded message in Toronto. This implies that Calvin Peabody is reputed to become one of the largest landowners in the Peabody Estate in Liberia. His sister did this as an attribution geared towards his leadership and due regards [to a 'prince' and future king], in comparison to his father [a.k.a. Great Albert], and their ancestral lines of kingships. In essence, Doh country, is divided into four districts, which used to be four (4) kingdoms. They were totally connected, geographically and by intermarriages. Calvin Peabody's great-grandfather, King Zangbah Noyu Komoyah was so powerful, he married a princess from one of the four kingdoms who was the aunty of George Barh-Fofoe Peabody [Zangbah could had probably been secretly positioned as King of Kings during his reign]. Those kingdoms could trace their ancestral connections straight back into Abassania (Ethiopia) through Cameroon; and under the reign of Emperor Theodorus, II of Abassania. This evident has also made the biological prince, Calvin Peabody, not just an elect or suitable candidate eligible for the throne in Noyu, Grand Bassa (Doh Proper); likewise his eligibility could even be considerably extended into Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Jamaicans and the Maroons did not come into the Americas directly from Ethiopia. Rather, they were captured mainly from West Africa [as slaves] and forcibly taken from their original homelands in Ghana (Akan; Ashanti), Nigeria (Iboland), Senegal (Wolof), etc. Therefore, what is the purpose of such preliminary emphasis on Ethiopia? It is preferably suggestive that they first return to West Africa, so their generation and generations yet unborn may become acquainted and familiarized with the cultural heritage and values thereof.
The Republic of Liberia, founded on July 26, 1847, has always been a safe haven (a Geneva in Africa), and the promise land for freedom and liberty for which its stands. In reiteration, 'Calvin Peabody' is definitely the right person God has chosen, to expound the true interpretation of the old prophesies [similarly as theologian John Calvin who was in the Reformation era of the 1500s]. Calvin Peabody believes he has seen several visions, on various occasions; the Almighty God appeared to him face to face in one point [just as he, Calvin met the 'ugly devil' after its transmogrification]. Although, God told him to be quiet in the vision, yet a disclosure of His Complexion, according to Calvin Peabody, is similarly dark (brown) as his own, but a hundred times more richer, since he believes God resides inside a beautiful Heavenly Garden Mansion. Such Garden grows the most quality fruits and vegetables which the Almighty manduates. Remember, Jesus Himself made wine at His first miracle in Cana.
