Liberia: “We Are Bringing China to Your Doorstep”

— Hotel entrepreneur Prince Howard told residents of Ganta

One of Nimba County’s leading businessmen, Prince Howard, has announced to residents of Ganta and Nimba County that he “will bring China” (indicating a life of modernity) to their doorsteps with the opening of a modern casino in Ganta.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the casino on Saturday, December 16, 2023, Mr. Prince Howard assured the public that the casino will reduce stress and expose the citizens to the outside world.

“We are bringing China or any modern thing you can think of to your doorstep, so you don’t have to worry anymore about places for recreation,” he said.

“Drinking is not the only way of enjoying yourselves; sometimes, after a whole day of turning around, you can also go to the casino, play some games, and get yourselves relaxed,” he said.

The casino was described by many as a “state of the art” casino in Liberia, where all sorts of casino games can be found outside of the nation’s capital, Monrovia.

Mr. Howard explained that the way people manage their money today will be the same as those who will come after you; therefore, it is good as you are working now to keep and go somewhere to entertain yourselves.

He said boastfully, “You don’t have to fly to Ghana, Asia, Europe, or South Africa before you see these things we are looking at.”

Mr. Prince Howard is the CEO of Alvino Hotel Inc., the biggest complex in Ganta and Yekepa, Nimba County.

He is constructing another 10 storey building to create more rooms for the many customers and also create more job opportunities for the citizens.

Alongside the 10 storey building is another five storey building under construction, which he said will have an aerial swimming pool and modern facilities.

The opening ceremony of the modern Alvino Casino was attended by scores of Asians, especially those of Chinese descent.

Even though the cost of the casino investment was not announced, a Chinese guest, who asked not to be named, described the investment as “very expensive.”

“I hope he gets back the money he spent, because these materials are all expensive and new,” the Chinese man said.
