Dr. Matthau Okoye, an experienced forensic pathologist, has provided new information in the trial of Charloe Musu’s murder, which has the potential to sway the trajectory of this landmark murder case. According to Dr. Okoye, the evidence he found during his forensic examination indicates that the perpetrator is male, contradicting the government’s earlier claims that the murderers were all female.

Dr. Okoye, who specializes in DNA testing and bodily fluids, testified that his examination of the deceased’s body, including multiple swabs and samples, revealed the presence of male DNA. This DNA profile did not match any of the defendants, including the accused Cllr. Scott.

Okoye is the second pathologist who examined the late Charloe Musu’s body. During the testimony, Okoye demonstrated on a flip chart about how DNA testing is used to determine the source of bodily fluids. DNA testing can determine the biological sex of the person it came from, and whether an individual can be excluded as a match to the DNA.

“The purpose of testing was to find male or female DNA, Okoye said. “All the swabs showed male DNA.”

Cllr Scott, together with Rebecca Youdeh, Alice Johnson, and Gertrude Newton, is on trial in connection to the murder of Charloe.

In addition to analyzing the body, Okoye conducted DNA testing on various items from Cllr. Scott’s home, finding bloodstains that matched the DNA profile of a male.

“The blood that was found through chemical testing matched the DNA profile of a male,” Okoye said.

His testimony Wednesday followed that of Dr. Benedict Kolee, a pathologist’s bloodstain analysis earlier, who analyzed bloodstains and found the DNA profile of a female. The trial continues Thursday with further testimony from subpoena witnesses.

Who is Dr. Matthau Okoye?

Okoye is a renowned forensic pathologist who has performed autopsies in the country for many years.

His first autopsy was in 2008 and 2009 on Angel Togba, a thirteen-year-old child; the second was on Harry Greaves in 2016; and a third was on Victoria Zayzay, with Charloe Musu being the fourth.

He has a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in pharmaceutical science and toxicology from the University of Misory in Kansas City, USA.

He has published books and given lectures on forensic science, crime scene investigation, DNA analysis, and other related subjects.

Koijee’s Controversial SIM Card Hasn’t Been Used, Says Orange GSM Company

In a related development, the GSM company Orange Liberia has provided testimony regarding a controversial SIM card number that was allegedly connected to the case. The company stated that the number belonging to Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee has never been used and is automatically blocked.

The management of Orange GSM-Liberia told the jury hearing about the Charloe Musu’s murder trial that the controversial SIM Card number (0776-407-969) belonging to Koijee has never been used, meaning that it is automatically blocked with the number.

The GSM network gave the revelation to Criminal Court ‘A’, on Wednesday, December 14, when it was subpoenaed to provide Koijee’s cell phone records, known as “Call Detail Records” or (CDR). The CDR shows a caller’s phone number, duration of call, start and end time of the call, and the cell phone tower the phone was connected to.

This information was revealed when Koijee’s cell phone records were subpoenaed by the court. Initially, the defense had argued that the SIM card was used by Koijee to communicate with Moses Wright, one of the security guards assigned to Cllr. Scott.

However, Koijee himself admitted to being the owner of the number during his testimony. He claimed to have used it to communicate with various individuals, including his chief of patrol, Varlee Telleh. Koijee also stated that he did not know about the incident that led to Charloe Musu’s death and denied any connection to Mohammed Keita, who is believed to be involved in the case. The trial continues with further testimony from subpoenaed witnesses.

This is the phone number, which initially the defense lawyers had argued was used by the owner to communicate with Moses Wright, one security (Genesis Security Guard Services) that was assigned with the former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott, now co-defendant, on February 22, 2023, the eve of the day Charloe Musu was allegedly murdered in the compound of Cllr Scott.
