The Liberia National Academy of Music (LINAM) will bring a new flavor to the Temple of Justice this evening (Dec. 23), with a concert featuring a repertoire of classical, traditional and jazz music. Starts at 6 p.m.

Christmas Music Fest Comes to Temple of Justice

In the Liberian context, it might seem like an unlikely venue but, for the Liberia National Academy of Music (LINAM) to stage its annual Christmas Fest in the Conference Hall of the Temple of Justice in Monrovia this year, the event might rekindle nostalgia for the arts in the legal science.

The lineage of Liberia’s legal-minded musicians and music enthusiasts goes as far back as the nation’s founding fathers, up to present. Quite a few Liberian lawyers and judges today are also masters of the keyboard and perhaps one of them, a vocalist, will present her talents at the concert, which will no doubt attract many legal colleagues as audience members.

The event takes place on Friday, Decemeber 23, at 6 p.m.

According to LINAM Executive Director Wilmot K. Bobboh, lll, the Christmas concert, which aims to promote the festive season and cultural values, is hosted at the court’s facilities in order to reflect the origin of noted musicians in Rome, Italy.

The event will feature professional Liberian musicians and choral groups, including the Liberia Premier Choral Society (LIPCS), which is the official chorus of the Academy, Brass of Africa, MarCeCIEO, Yamah Willie-Dolley (Dramatic Soprano), Tarley Kegbeh (Bass) and Bobby Lee Billy (Trumpeter). The repertoire of the Christmas Fest will be performed in three genres: classical, traditional and jazz.

The Academy in a statement acknowledged Chief Justice Francis Korkpor and Associate Justice Jamesetta H. Wollokolie for granting the opportunity to use the Temple of Justice facility for the event.

Admission: General tickets U$10; Patrons U$25; Sponsors U$50.
