Diaspora International Tournament Reaches Final

The fourth annual tournament of the Diaspora International yesterday reached the grand-final with Barrolle facing LPRC Oilers on Saturday, December 31, at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

LPRC Oilers secured their spot following a 2-1 victory over the Shipping Boys of LISCR FC.

Oilers took the lead in the first half through Blamo Nimely’s volley over goalkeeper Gibert Okotie, which separated the two sides in the first half.

Mighty Barrolle Gets First Win

Following three consecutive defeats in the Cellcom National League, the rollers of Mighty Barrolle on Friday, December 23, 2016 got their first win with a shocking result against Champions Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) at the Blue field in Monrovia.

The Kayan Pepper boys, having lost their first three matches in the new season, went into the encounter against the champions with soccer fans confident of BYC winning the match.

Lofa, Bassa, Nimba, Margibi Share Points in Quarter Finals

Day two of the National County Meet’s quarter-finals was just a replica of day one with the two matches that many anticipated to be the toughest, ending in goalless draws.

In the first match, Lofa County and defending champions Grand Bassa County failed to hit the back of each other’s net with Lofa County missing the best opportunity for goal in the first half.

Both Lofa and Grand Bassa counties were reduced to ten men after red cards were given to either side in the 75th and 81st minutes respectively.

Group ‘A’ Teams Share Points

Group ‘A’ members drew in their encounters at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in the quarter-finals of the National County Meet.

In the first encounter, Maryland and Montserrado ended 1-1 after Montserrado County took the lead in the 8th minute in their first goal of the competition, having ended all their group-stage matches in goalless draws.

The Harper Boys got their equalizer just a minute after conceding their goal and showed dominance in ball possession, but could not turn their chances into goals.

BYC Maintains Winning Form

LFA Champions BYC on Friday continued their winning form in the Celcom National league with a 2-0 win over ELWA United at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

The Go Blue Boys got the opener through midfielder Claudia Morris in the 6th minute through an assist from striker Mark Paye.

The goal was Morris’s second of the season. He got his first goal against Jubilee FC in the 4-0 victory at the Blue field.

BYC continued their dominance and striker Paye came close with a header, but missed.
