Barrolle Defeat ELWA United 4-0
Ahead of their clash against their traditional rivals, Invincible Eleven (IE), this Sunday, Mighty Barrolle whipped Paynesville-based ELWA United 4-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Wednesday.
The Rollers, after suffering their 6th defeat out of seven games to Nimba United, bounced back from their nightmare with a comprehensive victory against 9th placed ELWA United.
The ‘Kanyan Pepper Boys’ (Barrolle) dominated ball possession throughout the first half and created goal scoring chances. They finally got the curtain raiser in the 43rd minute through midfielder Alieu Kamara’s left foot strike from inside his opponents’ penalty area.
The Rollers, in the presence of their team’s president, Eugene Nagbe, who was witnessing his boys’ performance for the second time this season, put up a splendid performance by scoring an additional three goals in the second half.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Nagbe said the victory was an important boost as they prepare to face their rivals, IE, in their next match.
“We are in the relegation zone, so we are trying to motivate the boys so that they can maximize their potentials. And we are going back to better prepare for our Sunday match against rivals IE,” he said.
Mr. Nagbe also disclosed that the coach of the team, Tyrance Dixon, is suspended for what he termed as “gross insubordination” to the General Secretary of the team, but he did not reveal how long the suspension would last.
When contacted, Coach Dixon said he has not been issued an official letter of suspension.
According to reports, Coach Dixon’s suspension came after he sent a text to Nagbe to come to the field to watch the team play, which led to a war of words between the Coach and the Secretary General.
The Rollers had been swimming in a pool of defeats, which suspended Coach Dixon blamed on lack of support.
The ‘Kayan Pepper Boys’ will be going against their traditional rivals, the ‘Sunshine Yellow Boys’ on Sunday at the ATS, a match that many cannot afford to miss.
Invincible Eleven remain at the bottom of the league table after losing all of their first seven matches.
